Upper Austria
Overview:
Located west of Lower Austria, the region of Upper Austria borders Germany and the Czech Republic. The region geographically is somewhat diverse, from the Danube River Valley to the Alpine Mountains, The Salzkammergut lake district streches up into Upper Austria, Some of the better known lakes are the Traunsee, Almsee, Attersee and Wolfgangsee.
Upper Austria is home to the famous spa town of Bad Ischl which is located at the junction of the Ischl and Traun Rivers. Located not too far from Bad Ischl is one of the most picturesque towns in all of Austria. Located along the shores of the Hallstatter See is the charming town of Hallstatt. Save film or space on your digital camera card for pictures of Hallstadt and its small church reflected in the deep-blue waters of the lake.
