Trentino-Alto Adige

Trentino-Alto Adige combines two regions of Italy that have distinctly different flavors and traditions. Trentino is the southern tip of this far northern mountainous region, bordering Veneto’s portion of the Dolomites on one side and Lombardy on the other. Whereas Trentino is Italian in tradition, the upper section of Alto Adige touching Austria is Tyrolian in flavor (more German is spoken than Italian). The town of Trento is a highlight, featuring a 13th-century cathedral, Palazzo Pretorio, medieval tower, art museum Diocesano Tridentino, and Buonconsiglio Castle. The scenic Fassa and Fiemme valleys, a cross-country skiers’ paradise where the ancient Ladin language is still in use, are also of interest. The Brenta Dolomites, where skiers gather at the Madonna di Campiglio resort, is in this region. Visit Alto Adige’s capital city, Bolzano, with its Gothic cathedral and archaeological museum displaying the 5,300-year-old mummy, Otzi, discovered under the glaciers in 1991. We also love the beautiful Val Gardena valley extending to Cortina in neighboring Veneto, featuring the Siusi Alps with fairy-tale-like scenery and the centuries-old tradition of woodcarving.

Wonderful hotels, inns, bed and breakfasts and Agriturismo Lodging are included in our list of Trentino-Alto Adige Hotels . These lodging accommodations will contribute to lasting memories of your trip to Italy
